Its a mix of all, my random rantings and emotions. To share these is a weird feeling.. sharing the unessential. But still i do.. Hoping someday it would make perfect sense! :)

Just like love
Looking for the field of work that makes you tick is like looking for that one love in the world that is supposed to be yours. Such a romantic thought, that some day you would find a place where you are destined to be, where pure satisfaction can be attained for the hard work put, where you wouldn't mind working because your work matters. It is just about finding that place.. the place where all your fantasies about enjoying your hard work comes true. But how long would it take? How many times do you try? May be it is just like love. You should be lucky enough to find it, and if at all you find it, that would be the best thing that could happen to you. But can one really afford to keep searching, and if not, when exactly do you stop?

Not much difference!
There is a typical uniqueness in the novels I have been reading. The protagonist in most of the books is a person dedicated to and excelling in a profession who is obviously put into a challenging situation, and who at the end of the book overcomes the cons in the situation successfully.
But in a basic plot like this, I couldn't help but find a Sherlock Holmes in each story. Holmes being a master mind could come out of any situation with his own intellect. Because he is a handwriting expert, linguistic expert, physics expert, sociology expert, a chemist, a scientist and an expert in fights among many others. It was possible only for Arthur Conan Doyle to pull this off I guess. Because, these days the protagonists come out of the "pickles" quite successfully but not alone; because unlike Holmes they are only marginally talented. They do have a history though; the protagonist has a life in which he helps through his expertise- X,Y and Z and alter their lives making them indebted to the 'hero'. Well these X,Y,Z have their own specialties which the protagonist conveniently calls for in time.
Not much difference is it? Holmes could pull off the "know-it-all" thanks to Conan Doyle; but our new protagonists requires expert friends who help him. These days its only the kind of problem and hence the set of expertise and friends that vary in every movie and in every novel. It is the same thing again and again, with a different coat.
